Vyhivskyi: police in the capital continue to document drug crimes

As the head of the Main Office of the National Police in the city of Kyiv, Ivan Vyhivskyi, noted, since the beginning of the military invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, an increase in the level of crime in general has not been observed in the capital

During the martial law, citizens actively participated in the process of ensuring law and order in Kyiv, which is supported around the clock by the police. "We are grateful to the residents of the city that most of them help the police and military. Together, as a team, we oppose the occupiers," added the head of the Kyiv police.

Along with investigations by the capital's police into the facts of war crimes and other crimes typical of the period of hostilities, related to the identification of those involved in sabotage and intelligence groups, looting, etc., law enforcement officers do not stop watching for drug criminals.

For example, recently operatives of the Kyiv police conducted a special operation, as a result of which a group of drug dealers who sold prohibited substances on the territory of the capital were detained. The detention was ensured by the employees of the Shevchenkiv police department under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office and with the force support of the soldiers of the special purpose police regiment No. 1.

During the pre-trial investigation, the law enforcement officers established that the illegal drug business was organized by a 38-year-old resident of the capital. The investigation also established his accomplices, the nature and full chain of activities of the criminal group that worked since 2020, a list of particularly dangerous narcotics and psychotropic substances with which the gangs dealt - cannabis, cocaine, the psychotropic substance MDMA.

Currently, pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings initiated under Part 3 of Article 307 - illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, transportation, forwarding or sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances or their analogues, and Part 1, 2 of Art. 317 – the organization or maintenance of places for the illegal use, production or manufacture of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or analogues of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is completed. The materials of the criminal proceedings together with the indictment were sent to the court. Up to 12 years of imprisonment - such a term of punishment threatens those involved in the case.

Investigators of the capital police announced suspicion against another drug dealer - the organizer of an online store selling a whole range of popular drugs. Law enforcement officers established that orders were accepted through a social network, and customers sent money for goods to electronic wallets on virtual platforms. The offender coordinated the activities of the so-called "pawnshops" and also made postal deliveries on his own. During one of the shipments of another batch of prohibited substances, he was detained by the police "red handed". According to the results of an urgent search, about 2,000 packages with a psychotropic substance - PVP salts, worth a total of 2,000,000 hryvnias, were found and seized from the man.

Article 307, Part 2, according to which the suspect was served with suspicion, provides imprisonment for up to 10 years with confiscation of property. Currently, law enforcement officers are identifying other persons involved in the crime with the aim of bringing all those responsible to justice.

Of course, in times of war, the police have a much wider range of tasks and a greater workload, but at the same time, the direction of countering drug crime remains one of the priorities. "Police in the capital continue to document drug crimes and pay maximum attention to this line of work," - emphasized Kyiv Police Chief Ivan Vyhivskyi.
